With a strong research base and product focus, Regeneron is able to understand the biology of specific disease states, discover potential therapeutic candidates, and evaluate product candidates in clinical trials. Regeneron has developed several proprietary platform technologies and incorporated these into a comprehensive system to accelerate the discovery and design of fully human antibodies and move these candidates rapidly into clinical development.

The Cardiovascular Research group of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is seeking an energetic, dynamic indivic for a Research Associate position to assist in the development of new therapeutics for vascular disease. Th successful candidate must have sophisticated histology and immunohistochemistry skills and 3-5 years of laboratory research experience, academic or other. The ideal candidate has experience preparing a variety tissues for both frozen and paraffin sections, various stains (H&E, Trichrome, PAS, etc.), detection of LacZ expression, and immunohistochemistry for a variety of markers. Experience with heart, vessel, kidney and tissue is preferred, with relevant immunostain protocols (PECAM, Lectin, CD3 1, VWF, hypoxyprobe, CA Cadherin, K167, TUNEL for example). Advanced microscopy skills and experience with digital image ana strongly preferred. Perfusion fixation skills in rodents a strong plus. Rodent in vivo experience, or ELISA/WesternlRlA assay development experience also a plus. We are particularly interested in highly motivated individuals with an understanding of normal tissue histology and cardiovascular disease patholc seeking an opportunity to develop their research skills in pursuit of a successful career in science.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
60% Hands on experimentation in vivo
15% Data analysis: Image analysis, EXCEL or other data management, statistics
10% Laboratory preparation for in vivo studies
5% Recordkeeping/Lab Notebook
5% Participation in department meetings
5% Literature Review

Experience:
TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Histology: Tissue fixation, Paraffin embedding, OCT embedding for frozen section, Microtome and Cryostat sectioning, Perfusion fixation, Handling of multiple tissues, particularly heart, lung, kidney, vascular, liver. Multiple staining techniques, particularly H&E stain, Trichrome stain, PAS stain. Multiple immunohistochemistry/immunostain techniques, (PECAM, Lectin, CD3 1, VWF, hypoxyprobe, CA9, E-Cadherin, K167, TUNEL, for example) advanced microscopy skills, digital image analysis, Photoshop image analysis, NIH Image software, ImageJ software

CORE COMPETENCIES:

Advanced knowledge of histological and immunohistochemistry techniques in a variety of tissues, with an understanding of normal histology and disease pathology. Cardiovascular disease background and histology/pathology experience a strong plus. Communication, recordkeeping and organization skills are critical.
