With a strong research base and product focus, Regeneron is able to understand the biology of specific disease states, discover potential therapeutic candidates, and evaluate product candidates in clinical trials. Regeneron has developed several proprietary platform technologies and incorporated these into a comprehensive system to accelerate the discovery and design of fully human antibodies and move these candidates rapidly into clinical development.

The Cardiovascular Research group of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is seeking an energetic, dynamic individual to fill an open Scientist position, to assist in the development of new therapeutics for vascular disease. Scientists with expertise in the areas of Cardiac biology, heart failure, myocardial infarction, pulmonary function, pulmonary hypertension, fibrosis (lung, heart or kidney), or other vascular diseases are sought. Advanced knowledge of cardiovascular biology is expected, with specific hands-on technical expertise using current cardiovascular technologies in rodent models of disease. An understanding of the molecular biology underlying disease physiology is critical. Pathology/Histopathology expertise across multiple tissues is highly desired. The desired candidate will have completed a post-doctoral fellowship in an appropriate discipline. Recent PhD graduates will be considered for a post-doctoral scientist position if exceptionally well suited. Candidates are also expected to have excellent communication and presentation skills, and basic competency in data management utilizing EXCEL or other software, and basic statistics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

25% Hands on experimentation in vivo
25% Hands on experimentation in vitro/molecular/histology
5% Inventory and maintenance of non-breeding animal colony
15% Data analysis: EXCEL or other data management, statistics
10% Document preparation:
experimental protocols, TACUC protocols, pre-clinical reports, manuscripts
5% Presentation: Powerpoint
5% Literature Review
10% Participation in department meetings

Experience:
TECHNICAL SKILLS:

in vivo study design and execution, hands on expertise with cardiovascular disease models, including rodent models of heart/cardiac failure, myocardial ischemia, vascular diseases, pulmonary hypertension, fibrosis. Histopathology expertise a plus. Other key words: Cardiomyopathy, Cardiac Ischemia, Cardiac Hypertrophy, Pulmonary, Hypertension, Vascular disease, heart, lung, ECG, Ultrasound, Doppler, Echocardiogram, histology, immunohistochemistry, pathology, telemetry, rat, mouse.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

In addition to advanced knowledge of cardiovascular biology in general, and specialized knowledge of any of the above mentioned cardiovascular disease areas (heart/cardiac failure, vascular diseases, pulmonary function, pulmonary hypertension, fibrosis), An understanding of the molecular biology underlying disease physiology is very important. Pathology/Histopathology expertise across multiple tissues is highly desired. Candidates are also expected to have excellent communication and presentation skills, and basic competency in data management utilizing EXCEL or other software, and basic statistics. Interviewing candidates will be expected to deliver a 45-60 minute presentation of their research to date.
