With a strong research base and product focus, Regeneron is able to understand the biology of specific disease states, discover potential therapeutic candidates, and evaluate product candidates in clinical trials. Regeneron has developed several proprietary platform technologies and incorporated these into a comprehensive system to accelerate the discovery and design of fully human antibodies and move these candidates rapidly into clinical development. We are looking for a research associate to join the Ophthalmology Research team, to participate in preclinical studies supporting the development of novel therapeutics for the treatment of ocular diseases. Duties include assisting in the conduct and analysis of experiments to evaluate candidate molecules in animal models of human ocular diseases. Applicants should have a B.A. or equivalent degree, and 2 or more years of relevant research experience. The preferred candidate will have training in the proper handling and care of rodents and other mammals, general surgical techniques, tissue collection and preparation. Experience with histological methods, image analysis and/or biochemical and molecular assays is also desired. RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct studies in animal models of ocular neovascularization and inflammation (25%) Assist and perform animal surgeries and ocular drug administration in rodents and rabbits (25%) Perform histology on ocular tissues, perform microscopy and image analysis (3 5%) Data analysis, and other laboratory duties (15%) Experience: TECHNICAL SKILLS: Working with rodents in ocular inflammatory diseases Working experience with ocular histology and molecular biology CORE COMPETENCIES: Animal handling, ocular histology, biochemistry, image analysis of tissue samples, data analysis and report.
