Directs and controls the activities of demand forecasting, inventory planning and logistics network planning. The incumbent develops, approves, implements and maintains systems, processes, procedures, controls and policies; translates business strategy into long-term goals and objectives; stays abreast of key supply chain issues within and without the industry to identify potential opportunities and/or threats to the company; directs manufacturing resources to achieve inventory targets which support business unit and corporate objectives; develops cost-effective, worldwide inventory strategies to support commercial operations and customer expectations; manages a multi-national staff; and interacts with senior management, commercial operations, finance and information technology.
The position of Group Materials & Planning Manager, (GMPM) requires professional or managerial experience acquired through a relevant baccalaureate college degree and 10 years experience, or advanced degree(s) and 8 years of direct relevant experience. The incumbent must maintain a general understanding of technical processes and applications throughout the work group and use this information to guide strategic directions and deployment of resources. It is necessary the GMPM stay up to date in area expertise (tactical functioning of the company and technology expertise) and practice these skills and knowledge in their own work. The GMPM has management skills related to the resource allocation of people, budgets and results. He/She will over see important tactical functions of the company and typically manage a complex work or functional unit and multi-site verifications and external validation studies with customers. The incumbent will consider organizational issues, external factors, customer perspective and seek to involve input from individuals setting priorities and making decisions. Enable individuals to obtain information and support required to make decisions. He/She will encourage system-level innovation and interpret technology within the context of strategic plans, define capabilities and constraints and identify how experimental data may apply to internal programs/projects. He/She will prepare for cross-functional opportunities, leadership roles or technical advancement and apply new knowledge to improve work processes. Discuss with colleagues how to enhance mutual learning and prepare for higher level management and interdepartmental relations and use feedback tools to gather data about personal effectiveness. Remain flexible and take necessary risks to achieve objectives and drive for results despite increasing pressure and workload while enabling others to focus on critical goals and targets. The GMPM must define resources necessary for project/program completion and understand goals, objectives and barriers to achievement for defined areas of focus. Must have the ability to design an experimental program to optimize steps required to evaluate and implement new processes or products and recommend a course of action to achieve goals and objectives. Will be responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual work unit planning and balance the needs of functional and work units in an integrated fashion to achieve organizational goals. The GMPM will plan, organize and manage the achievement of functional unit goals and provide direction and guidance in design, development and application of new technologies, mentor while providing ongoing teaching, guidance and assistance to technical staff in area(s) of expertise. Elaborate technical strategy and promote introduction of methods, tools, processes and technologies. The incumbent will solicit input then convey, review and edit complex technical ideas and information clearly and effectively while tailoring messages to ensure clarity and achieve maximum impact. Will lead, act as a resource and facilitator for process improvement efforts to identify and improve department effectiveness.
Requirements
- 8 or more years of appropriate experience
- ERP expertise (SAP or Oracle)
- Knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma
- APICS certification
